This was an extensive and well-established garden needing areas of new planting design.  Work on parts of the garden was based on the original planting plans, replacing missing plants and establishing new planting to blend with the existing. 

 

The area known as the ‘Exotic Garden’ is shown, which was made more exciting and ‘exotic’ by adding new plants, such as Red Bananas, Yuccas, Cannas and Agaves. Those which are not hardy are grown in containers and lifted under cover for the winter.
